“Thanksgiving” by Shawn Anniston from Best Gay Romance 2014 (Cleis Press).
Full disclosure: I have a story in this anthology.
Once again, here’s a story where the main character’s sexuality is taken in stride. It’s a given, a non-issue. The issue the main character has regarding his new boyfriend Matthew has nothing to do with the fact that they are both men. I love that. I also love his support group, from his gay, male friends to his considerably older, straight, female assistant and even his dog’s vet. Mostly, though, I love the interactions he has with his family, and that they are shown giving him the guidance he needs to make sense of his relationship and, by extension, his life.
