Adalbert is a spoiled brat of a prince. No, it’s worse than that. He’s been so over-indulged and isolated that he’s developed no capacity for empathy and no need for companionship. It’s no surprise, then, that when it comes time for him to choose a mate from the kingdom’s eligible candidates, he’ll not only have none of it, he’s downright insulting—even cruel—to his suitors. He must be taught a lesson, and that’s precisely what happens.
