“Goldie and the Three Bears” by Sasha Payne from Myth and Magic: Queer Fairy Tales, Bold Strokes Books, 2014. Edited by Radclyffe and Stacia Seaman.
The first time I read this too much of my attention was spent deciphering its noir flair, and I was also thrown by the fact that the bears in it were dissimilar and none fit the stereotype I had in mind. (Yes, I do realize that “cookie-cutter” would be nonsensical, considering the source material. I’m just telling you how I felt.)
The second time I enjoyed the story immensely. I love their differences and also that the back story which put the main character in their path keeps a second sort of tension brewing throughout the piece. There’s not much more I can say beyond that because this most definitely is erotica.
